After name is decided, we wanted to make the best out of it.

We wanted to take a Liberal Standpoint, while hiding behind a conservative
sounding name.

In any case, we knew that men are Axxholes, because of logic in their mind. Men
suffer because they use logic in stead of strategies and men hate
contradictions.

We knew: Contradictions and non-logical behaviour can make you a pain in the ass
(PITA) to the system.

So, we have a Conservative Name, with liberal ideas.

We have a Men’s Rights Organisation sitting inside a Pro-Family name.

(Of course some foolish members even today do not understand why contradictions,
deceptions and treachery are important weapons against a bloody asshole sort of
enemy called Feminism).

Why, we were liberal?

Because, feminists are liberal. We wanted to sit in same boat as feminists, so
that it is difficult for them to attack us.

In fact, we wanted to be mirror images of feminists so that they find it
difficult to attack us. We never wanted any high moral ground. What will I do
with high moral ground? Cultivate ground nuts?

If we had been conservatives, then feminists can easily attack us as they have
years of practice of attacking conservatives. Conservatives are born assholes in
any case.

See, we are not here to take any classes on morals and ethics.

We were facing terrorism and we got to screw enemy and we decided to screw in
whatever possible way, we find.

n 5 years, Indians stashed Rs 688,000 cr illegally’

S Gurumurthy, the leading chartered accountant who is also the convener of the Swadeshi Jagran Manch, is a member of the taskforce created by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s [Images] prime ministerial candidate L K Advani [Images] to bring back the black money stashed away in various banks outside India if the National Democratic Alliance is voted back to power.
The first report by the taskforce was released a few days ago. Other than Gurumurthy, those involved in the preparation of the report was former Intelligence Bureau director Ajit Kumar Doval, Dr R Vaidyanathan from the Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore, and lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani, the BJP candidate from the Mumbai [Images] North-Central constituency.

In this exclusive interview with Shobha Warrier, Gurumurthy discusses tax havens, secret bank accounts and what the taskforce’s plans are.

You are part of the taskforce created to bring black money back from secret bank accounts abroad. The BJP has made it an election issue. Were you instrumental in getting Mr Advani to take up the issue?

This is a subject I have been working on since 1986. In fact, I was even arrested because I was trying to dig into the secret accounts of the Gandhi family. I have always been talking to many politicians on this subject; I had also spoken to the BJP.

At that time, it was more ideal to work on it than anything practical. It is not that India on its own can prevent global black money being generated, because there are countries which help the generation of black money by their laws, and Switzerland [Images] is the most important of them.

These countries provide secrecy, and anybody can go and deposit money incognito. Their laws prohibit the disclosure of names. Only rarely, where you can link the money to corruption or drugs, is it possible to trace the flight of capital. For that, they have treaties with different countries, including with India. But you need to know the name of the criminal and his account number to ask for the details.

It has always been a question on the minds of the Indian people and also those keen on establishing the amount of money that has gone there, but there was no proper estimate. But this has always been a topic of debate in the minds of those who are interested in the country.

Why did the BJP decide to take it up as an issue now?

It is essentially because of the turn in the Western nations’ approach to secret banking due to the economic crisis in the West. The West began feeling the pinch of secret banking. They felt that the financial system is getting destabilised because of the generation of black money.

Black money in the West is not as much flight of capital as it is evasion of taxes. In India, it is both black money and flight of capital.

Were the recent developments in Germany [Images], with its authorities asking for the secret names, the turning point?

The Germans took the step of bribing a bank official of the LGT Bank in Liechtenstein by paying $6 million. They got a secret CD containing 1,500 names of people who have stashed away money, and nearly 500, 600 of these were Germans. They acted against them, which included the head of the German postal system.

Then they told the entire world that anyone could ask for the names and if the names of those countries’ nationals were there, they would part with it free of cost. All the countries made a request, but not India. So, Advaniji wrote a letter in April last year, but an evasive reply was given.

Three other things also happened. One, after Germany acted very powerfully, there was a big diplomatic row between Liechtenstein and Germany. Liechtenstein is a place from where secret trusts are created and monies are deposited into Switzerland. It is a principality.

Then, Germany took up the issue in the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development’s 17-nation platform (Switzerland is one of them) and asked for blacklisting and sanctions against Switzerland. France [Images] also joined Germany. This happened some time in October last year.

Switzerland did not know what to do then and they began lobbying. France and Germany then took it to the G-20 preparatory meeting. They said at the G-20 meeting on April 2 that they were asking for blacklisting of and sanctions against Switzerland and all those countries that were not cooperating.

So that was why Mr Advani wanted Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] to raise the issue at the G20 meet?

At that time Advaniji felt as the PM was attending the April 2 meeting, he should take up this issue. But our people remained silent at the G-20 preparatory meet.

See what India did. We didn’t forcefully ask the Germans to give us the particulars. When Germany and France took up the matter in the OECD, we didn’t welcome it. When they took up the matter in G-20 we did not support them or join them. So, from all this arose a big question, whether the government was at all interested in working against illicit Indian monies abroad. That is why Advaniji took up the matter. As the government did not take it up, the BJP had to take it up as an electoral issue.

The Congress said Mr Advani was lying…

It is like this: A theft has taken place, and you are arguing about how much has been stolen. Nobody denies the theft! Nobody denies the loot!

How much black money from India must be there in the secret Swiss accounts?

A global study was conducted by an expert, Raymond W Baker, which we have quoted in the report. He published a book in 2005, Capitalism’s Achilles Heel: Dirty Money And How To Renew The Free Market System.

After 2001, secret money became an issue of security. So America became worried about terror funding which takes place only through secret banking channels.

His book estimated the black money to be $11.5 trillion which is increasing at the rate of $1 trillion every year, out of which $500 billion is stolen from developing countries.

Is the report one of the reasons why the BJP decided to raise the issue?

That alone would not have helped. The change in the economic situation made the Western countries try to break banking secrecy. That was the most important point. US President Obama [Images] has proposed a law to break the secrecy. Like I said earlier, you have to join forces at the global level as the battle needs to be fought at the global level. That is the reason why the BJP decided to take it up.

The GFI study only indicated the magnitude of the problem. It says between 2002 and 2006, the amount of money stashed away from India would be on an average $27 billion a year and totally about $137.5 billion which is equal to Rs 688,000 crores in just five years. So, the fact of the loot can never be disputed.

What the Congress is trying to do is to dispute the maths of the issue. The fact is, whatever be the amount, it is very big.

Why do you think the Congress is not taking up the issue?

Obviously, a large part of it must be Congressmen’s money, they have ruled the country for 50 years. Why did Sonia Gandhi [Images] not speak on this subject? She is said to be a close friend of Ottavio Quattrocchi and it has been established that he had received bribe money from Bofors through secret banking systems and tax havens. The Central Bureau of Investigation successfully traced the money and kept it frozen. He was allowed to leave India first and then take the money back.

I believe the lead family of the Congress party is a suspect in the matter of foreign money and that is why the family doesn’t want the banks’ secrecy to be unveiled.

Their friends are the only people who have been caught so far. No other Indian has been caught except the people associated with the Gandhi family in the Bofors scandal.

What are the taskforce’s plans?

First, he (Advani) wanted us to find out what the global position was. That is the first report we gave. We have said it is doable if we work on an appropriate strategy. We have to also generate a national consensus and arouse a high level of consciousness among the people about the issue.

Is that the reason why a survey was conducted in Gujarat on black money in secret bank accounts?

Yes, the BJP wants to make people to proactively think and participate in the campaign.

You are talking about huge sums of money. If at all we manage to bring it back to India, what do you say India should do with it?

Even if 25 per cent of what they are talking about comes back, India’s rating will go up because it’s our own money and not borrowed money. It can transform the economic personality of the nation.

The BJP manifesto says if the money comes back, it will be used for fundamental purposes like rural roads, schools, poverty alleviation and things like that. It will be used for social causes and not building airports.

Will the current global recession make people look at globalisation from a different perspective?

Capitalism will undergo a lot of changes because today’s capitalism is not what Adam Smith conceived or Karl Marx opposed. Today, capitalists are not the people who handle capital; it’s the professionals. It’s somebody else’s money that the professionals are handling. So, it is not capitalist’s capitalism; it’s professionals’ capitalism.

Now, a further change that has taken place is, it is not actual money, but virtual money that is being used. Imaginary money has been created by brain power and that is put to use as real power. That is the crisis today.

This kind of capitalism will be gone and the original capitalism where ‘I look after my wealth’ will come back again. That is good for the world. This other man’s money I handle which has promoted the expenditure-driven market mechanism is a product of neo-capitalism.

Banking secrecy was considered one of the virtues of capitalism. Now, they call it an evil! This is the U-turn in one year!

In one of your earlier interviews, you told rediff.com that globalisation was not sustainable.

Who is talking about globalisation today? Today, it’s just not environmentally, ecologically and culturally sustainable. I have always maintained that it was not economically sustainable, because it is contrary to the very meaning and definition of economics which is associated with frugality.

It is an executive class economics different from the economy class which brings out the difference between economics and excessiveness.

Moreover, globalisation disregards the existence of countries; they talk about a global society, global rule, global citizens, global villages, etc. It was an absolutely idealistic idiosyncrasy. That is gone.

Who is talking about the WTO? I told you long ago that the WTO will not last. If you create an artificial structure, it will not stand. People in different parts of the world have their own models of living; you cannot homogenise them, make them wear the same dress, eat the same food, or see the same cinema or have the same goals. This is what West-centric globalisation attempted, and got the first taste of it in the last four, five years.

Will people start thinking in terms of swadeshi?

People will be more conscious of their surroundings, their people, their family and their society first, and not the distant world.

The distant world is good for a visit, but not for domicile.

The very next day, April 21, 2009, Dainik Jagaran, a well know Hindi newspaper daily, published the false news of cancellation of Sudhir Kumar’s nomination. SIF got into action and one of the SIF soldier rushed to the Election Office to verify it. Everything was in order, nomination was intact. Dainik Jagaran had made a big blunder by publishing false news. Or shall we suspect foul play here?

An adulterous wife cannot seek relief against her husband under the Prevention of Domestic Violence Act, a city court has ruled.

Metropolitan Magistrate Surya Malik Grover said: “To enjoy the benefits of the provision (Prevention of Domestic Violence Act), the lady must come to the court with clean hands, as she should not be guilty of adultery…”

The court said, “the Prevention of Domestic Violence Act was enacted to provide speedy and expedient remedy to protect hapless victims of pervasive acts of violence occurring within family, and not to give the woman complete immunity from getting away with any kind of misdeed.”

The case

After 18 years of marriage, Sheila had filed a case against her husband Mohit (both names changed), accusing him of persistently demanding dowry and subjecting her to mental and physical torture.

She had prayed to the court to remove her husband from their shared house in the posh Greater Kailash locality in South Delhi.

The husband, however, refuted her allegations pointing out that she had not complained about this before in their 18-year marriage.

Mohit’s lawyer Vijay Kumar Aggarwal argued that “Sheila made false complaints to cover up her extra-marital affair, and in the garb of Domestic Violence Act she wanted to take possession of the house.”

Court’s view

The court took note of the fact that in their long marriage, there was not a single police complaint or any other material on record to suggest that Sheila had suffered physical or verbal abuse at the hands of Mohit.

The court observed that trouble brewed after Sheila befriended Amit (name changed), and Mohit suspected they were having an affair.

“The suspicion of the husband is not based on a figment of imagination, as insisted by the complainant, but rather upon material proof in the form of love letters and photographs,” said the judge.

Sheila “fabricated the entire story of violence against her. Even her complaint lodged in a dowry case was cancelled, as the police did not find any substance in it,” said Mohit’s lawyer.

Save Indian Family Foundation (SIFF), Bangalore, the single largest NGO working towards the cause of Family Harmony, Gender Equality and Men’s Rights announces a flash dharna at the Gandhi Statue, M.G. Road, Bangalore tomorrow on 19th Apr. 09 to bring public awareness of the serious problems faced by the Indian husbands and their families owing to many anti-family legislations that have been introduced in the last three decades.

In the last four years alone, over 1,23,497 women have been arrested under IPC Section 498A alone, without any evidence or investigation, not for committing any crime under law, but only because they were related to a man. Noted women’s rights activist Madhu Kishwar acknowledged that IPC Section 498A is heavily misused, and that a significant proportion of individuals who approach “Manushi” these days are mothers-in-law and husbands who are falsely accused of marital cruelty and dowry harassment. Renowned IPS officer Kiran Bedi admitted that many poor and illiterate mothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, who are falsely charged under anti-dowry laws, are languishing in prison every year.

Inspite of The Honorable Supreme Court terming the Misuse of Section 498A as “Unleashing of a new Legal Terrorism on innocent husband’s family” and Domestic Violence Act as “one of the most clumsily drafted law”, the Congress led UPA government has not taken any corrective action and the entire families of Indian husbands are suffering today because of that. This is an extreme case of “bad governance” by Congress party.

Congress wants to divide the country based on gender and it wants to show itself as a savior of women for Vote Bank politics. In reality, Congress is most insensitive and brutal towards women of this country. Congress arrested over 1,23,497 women in last 4 years without investigation or evidence in last 4 years. Even pregnant women were not spared.
This shows how selfish and insensitive Congress is towards women and children, even though the Chief of Congress is a woman.
Divorce has sky-rocketed during Congress rule, as this party provided special incentive for women to file divorce and marry multiple times.
Congress has used hate speech. A Congress Cabinet Minister Renuka Choudhury says,” it’s time for Men to suffer”. That is hate speech and this minister was given ticket to contest elections.
Congress did not implement judicial reforms which were recommended in 2003. As a result, the divorce cases are increasing rapidly while there are no courts to handle these cases. That is extremely poor governance as young people’s lives are hung standstill in the middle.
Congress passed many bills in parliament without debate or discussion. This includes the Domestic Violence against women bill. Congress denied the protection to old women if they are harassed or thrown out of house by their daughters-in-law by making last minute changes in the law.
This shows Congress does not believe in democracy, otherwise why it will pass bills without discussions on finer-print?
Home Minister Shivaraj Patil and Women and Child Minister Renuka Choudhury were the most incompetent of all ministers. Renuka Choudhury did not make any provisions in law for prevention of abuse of children. She did nothing for Children. The only thing she’s interested in is media attention using her loud mouth.
Small Children are worst sufferers when there is a divorce or separation as they are cut off suddenly from one parent, in case of marital problems.
Thousands of children got separated from their fathers or mothers for prolonged periods starting from few months to many years due to Congress neglecting family courts, while it promoted rampant divorce everywhere in India. The damage Congress caused to the future generations is enormous.
Family Harmony is an election issue even in the United States. People there do not tolerate any party that promotes divorce and is insensitive to children. Barack Obama himself spent lot of time in his campaign talking about problem of children living with only one parent. But Indian Congress Party entirely neglects this issue. No Congress party leader has ever talked about family harmony as immediate need for Indian society. It is not even in their manifesto.
We are in no mood to forgive Congress for its insensitivity and bad governance, especially in the area of family harmony and family courts.
Congress has been a slave of foreign forces, which are pumping money into India to destroy our family system with lies and false statistics.
We also urge other political parties not to support Congress and abet “Family Breaking”.
So, we call for people to just “Divorce Congress”, after all Congress promotes divorce.

People must vote.
People must vote any party or even independents, but not Congress.
The message is for all political parties. Any party that neglects the family system promotes divorce will get “DIVORCED by Indian People”.
We do not mind to have a hung parliament and anther election. But, Congress has to go.
We warn all political parties if they neglect Indian family system, which is the envy of the world.
We’ve started a nationwide campaign to “Divorce Congress” and many of our members have stood in elections as independents.
Our activist Sudhir Anand has filed his nomination as an independent candidate in New Delhi Lok Sabha Constituency.

A Sorry state of the Justice System and Gender Equality in India; a feat achieved by the Congress Government in the last 60 years.

Every year, close to 4,000 innocent senior citizens are arrested (i.e. one innocent elderly person every 2.5 hours) under IPC Section 498A. Many retired elders have been ill-treated, thrown out of their own homes and deprived of their meager means of sustenance by greedy or vengeful daughters-in-law. Senior citizens are further harassed through false cases of domestic abuse and dowry harassment and denied mental peace during the last leg of their lives. More and more elderly parents are unable to depend on their sons for the fear of false dowry harassment cases by resentful daughters-in-law. The World Health Organization, in its report on India cited IPC Section 498A as one of the major reasons for the “Increasing Abuse of the Elderly in India”.

According to National Crime Records Bureau(NCRB) data of 2005: 52000 Married Men committed Suicides while 28000 Married Women committed Suicides.
2006 Crime Bureau Data: Married Men Suicide: 55452 vs. Married Women Suicide: 29869.

Still there is no LAW to Protect Men, why?

We have repeatedly requested the Congress led UPA Government by providing all the data and official statistics of suffering of Indian men in general and husbands in particular and demanded that all Gender Biased LAW should immediately be made crime based void of any assumption that women never lie and men are born as Criminals. “MEN/WOMEN” word to be replaced by word “PERSON” and word wife/husband to be replaced with the word “SPOUSE”.

But it has fallen on deaf ears of the Congress led UPA Government and in return the Union minister for Women and Child Development makes the following derogatory statements against Indian men while being in office:

It’s the turn of the Indian men to suffer, as women suffered for long. (Its like Mughals had destroyed many temples, so let’s demolish all the Mosques in India).
Don’t trust Your Men; trust Condom in the name of reducing AIDS. (Forgetting the fact that relationships are based on trust alone. And she seems to be spreading the message to all the women to have sex without having any relationship with the men).
It’s Diwali Gift to Indian women (on the DV Act). (Within two weeks, four women were sent behind the bars under first DV act case in Pune and one age old women left her own house as her daughter-in-law walked into her house with all her friends and parents. Who was the gift for?).
Promoting family harmony and true gender equality is the need of the day, to ensure social stability and responsible citizenship in the country. We strongly condemn all the above-mentioned assaults on the human rights and constitutional rights of men, women, children, senior citizens and families.

Citizens may choose to vote for Congress and ensure that more and more suffering follows for Indian men and their families. Congress government has converted the Indian Criminal Justice system into a wholesale free money earning business through Legal Extortion from Husbands and their family members.

Vote for any party, but not for congress and give a clear message that anti-husband, anti-men, anti-family and anti-child law and policy will not be accepted in this country by any political party.

Chennai South has a higher voter base, with 11.49 lakh voters listed in the electoral rolls;
The voter-turnout in this prestigious Lok Sabha seat has been on the decline from 56 per cent in the 1996 elections to 45 per cent in the 1999 polls.
South Chennai will have about 1,500 polling stations.

Average enlisted voter per booth = 800
Expected polling 60% +/- = 500

If BJP can muster 25% of the polled votes there is every possibility of winning the seat.

Which means about 125 votes per booth where there are 800 votes per booth!!

In a bone-chilling, 8 minute video that he recorded of himself on his mobile, minutes before he committed suicide, Syed Makhdoom expressed the pain that he underwent in an insensitive society and before an insensitive judiciary that trivialized his pain, never understood a father’s feelings and did not grant him visitation to his child which is the natural and biological right of both the child and the father.

Syed Makhdoom’s case is not a one off case. Every year 57,000 married men are committing suicides, unable to bear the torture meted out on them by their wives and in-laws. In the year 2007, 57593 married men committed suicide. Similar figures for the years 2006 and 2005 are 55452 and 52000 respectively as per National Crime Records Bureau. Since 1996 suicide rates have shot up by 40%. Every year the suicide rate is going up by 4% whereas population grows at the rate of 1%. 4 times more men are committing suicides than they are born. Compared to women, the suicide of married men is 1.86 times and grows at 6 times the rate of growth of married women’s suicides.

SIFF and its allied NGOs have been creating awareness about this hidden problem since the past 4 years and has been demanding a Men’s Welfare Ministry but the demands have fallen on deaf ears of the Congress led UPA Government. Hence this election, SIFF appeals to the people, “Vote for any party, but not for Congress”.

Today, April 16, 2009 SIFF and CRISP members are gathering at Gandhi Statue at 7: 00 PM in a “Candle Light March” to pay tribute to the departed soul of Mr. Syed Makhdoom. Additionally we wish to convey this message to the society that “Killing men is not a social service” and men are committing suicides in larger numbers with increasing rate every year, merely for the reason that they are not given proper communication channels to express their problems and an environment where in their problems can get addressed. Hence it is a choice left to the society; it can continue to ignore men and their problems and create a fatherless society or take note of the issue and take responsibility for it as well.

Today in this Candle March, in addition to paying homage to the departed soul of Mr. Syed Makhdoom, SIFF, CRISP and its allied NGOs makes the following demands from the Government of India:

Form a National Commission for Men and a Men’s Welfare Ministry to look into the issues that men are facing

Owing to skyrocketing suicides due to family distress and domestic disputes, a national debate needs to be called for. The debate needs to address the issues the current family system faces.

Grant interim visitation/custody orders to non-custodian parents within the first month.

Clear the huge backlog of pending matrimonial cases and appoint evening courts and more judges for the same.

Eliminate all gender biased laws and replace them with Gender neutral laws by replacing the words “Husband” and “Wife” with “Spouse” and “Man” and “Woman” with “Person”.

Eliminate all redundant legal provisions of applying for maintenance by the wife.

Amend the Domestic Violence Act which currently does not cater to female to female violence, female to male violence and male to male violence.

MUMBAI: Singer-music director Adnan Sami’s wife Sabah has accused him and actress Pooja Bedi of allegedly assaulting her at her residence. Pooja said she was shocked by the allegation. “I did not attack or push her. In fact, there are scratches on both my hands from trying to save my mobile phone that Sabah was out to grab.”

About her presence at the Sami house on Monday, the actor clarified, “Our families are very close. In fact, we are Adnan’s support system here in Mumbai. Ever since his mother left for Islamabad for her father’s burial, Adnan has been tending to his father, a pancreatic cancer patient, for over 50 hours. Obviously he was exhausted. I offered to come over while he caught up on his sleep.”

Pooja says she was sitting on the sofa in the hall and reading a book when Sabah barged into the house with a friend and began filming her.

“She screamed and asked me to get out of her house, while I told her to keep her voice down since both Adnan and his father were asleep.” All through the melee, Sabah and her friend continued to film Pooja on their mobile phones.

“She then reached out to grab my phone,” said Pooja. “When I tried to protect it, she lunged at me and began abusing and assaulting me.”

Some time later, seven cops landed up at the house. Pooja told them that all the evidence they needed was in the two mobile phones used to film her. “I hope they are confiscated,” she said.

Senior police inspector Kiran Sonone of the Oshiwara police station confirmed that Sabah had filed an NC complaint, “stating that Adnan had abused her verbally when she inquired about Pooja Bedi’s presence in the house”.

“I have never seen such a hysterical woman and an out-and-out liar,” said Pooja. “It is sad how women misuse the law, especially in the case of Adnan. He is going through a divorce and can do whatever he wants with his life. The more she troubles Adnan, the more we will come out in support of him.”

Adnan Sami and his wife have been having problems for some time. Sabah had filed a case in January for harassment and assault. In February, she filed a complaint under the Domestic Violence Act before the Andheri court. She also pleaded that Sami and his father be removed from their 6,000 sq ft home.
